Cycle 2 secondary students completing graduation requirements in math with mild to significant delays have been my share for the last 5 years within the 50% resource time allocated to mathematics at the high school level. No workshops or readings could complete my 33 years teaching experience as much as this daily encounter with teenagers and young adults who live this status of deceptions in our mini-societies called schools. They decide day after day, without understanding why, to limit their learning to what they know is a meaningless minimum!
