I teach music to all classes at Laurentian Elementary School and I also teach a grade three math class. I have my degrees and experience in both elementary education and music. I teach music using stations of xylophones, drums and keyboards. One tool I use to engage students is an iphone or tablet app called Fourchord (4chord). It is called guitar karaoke but I use it by getting students to sing along and play along to popular songs on the classroom instruments. It's fun as a warm up or a reward at the end of the class but I also use it as motivation to learn song structure, melody, rhythm, beat, harmony, dynamics and all the other elements of music you can imagine.
